OPPArt (Opportunities for Artists) is a new monthly series aimed toward helping individual artists connect with each other and further themselves and their work. The series will include professional development workshops, roundtable discussions, social events and more. Most events will be free, and all events will be open to artists of any genre or level. For upcoming events, click on the link above.
The Greater Columbus Arts Council recognizes the vital role individual artists play in the community and the support they need to continue their work. As part of the GCAC/City of Columbus Grants Program, artists receive financial support through funds made available by the city of Columbus, which dedicates a portion of revenues from the hotel/motel tax for support of the Grants Program. Funding decisions are made on a non-political basis through a competitive system of application and review. Artists can receive support in two ways:
The Individual Artist Fellowship Program recognizes outstanding artists in Franklin County by awarding fellowships in various artistic disciplines. Awards in 2010 will be given in Visual Arts and Choreography. A new Film/Video program will be announced later this year.
The Greater Columbus Arts Council is finalizing the program for visual arts fellowships for 2010. There is an exciting partnership in the final stages of confirmation which will bring a new facet to the program. Details will be shared in the coming weeks. We hope to have the application open as early as June 2010 with a deadline at the end of July 2010 (exact dates to be determined). Winners will be selected by the end of August. The image specifications established in 2008 will remain the same.
