The series will include professional development workshops, roundtable discussions, social events and more. Most events will be free, and all events will be open to artists of any genre or level. Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2010, OAPN invites performing artists to learn more about the organization and how to apply to showcase at the Annual Conference, which will be held in Columbus this October. Hear first hand from a local performing artist, presenter, agent and arts consultant the importance of showcasing your work. This will be a hands-on workshop, so be sure to bring your lunch and marketing materials and OAPN will help you prepare for the OAPN Showcase Conference Artist application, due this spring!

Make plans to join the Greater Columbus Arts Council as it hosts this informative and interactive workshop. The session will be facilitated by Dave Cofer, President / CEO of Cofer Consulting Solutions and Internship Consultant with the Columbus Chamber.
Planned topics include, but are not limited to:
• What is your Objective? Understanding why you are hosting an internship program and making that the focus of your efforts.
• Organizational Readiness. Ensuring that the organization and its people are prepared to host an intern.
• Roles Deserving of Interns. What types of opportunities are interns seeking that employers derive value from.
• Mapping the Experience. Creating your plan and sticking to it.
• Effective On-Boarding & Orientation. Ensuring that your intern(s) get off to a good start and have a foundation for success.
• Performance Management. The importance of frequent touch-points to review progress against goals and provide feedback on performance
• Staying Engaged. Steps you can take to ensure that over the course of the 10-12 weeks both the organization and the intern remain actively engaged with one another.
• I’m All Out of Work! What to do when the intern comes to you having completed all of the assignments outlined at the beginning of the assignment.
• Focus on Development. Connecting your intern with a dynamic assortment of development opportunities.
• A Successful Conclusion.

As GCAC continues to evolve the OPPArt series, we are launching a monthly roundtable discussion session on the last Thursday of every month in 2009. The sessions are open to be led by local artists on any topic of interest. Submissions are being accepted on an ongoing basis. Please include your contact information, topic heading and description, speaker(s) or activity outline and two choices of month for scheduling.
